Conjunctivitis or pink eye (*in hindi its known as aakh aana) is very common in the season of monsoon. This disease can be caused by bacteria as well as virus. The most common symptoms for conjunctivitis is redness of eye with swelling which may also  accompany with the discharge of fluid  yellowish in colour, irritating the eye leading to pain. In this article we will go through some preventive measure as well as will lay down some easy home remedies which are based on Ayurveda that can help you to overcome a complications of conjunctivitis.

Conjunctivitis: Preventive Measure

Being very contagious it is very important to do the following things: 

  • Washing hands frequently.
  • Using separate towel to clean our bodies and eyes.
  • Maintenance hygiene of bed covers and pillows.
  • We should try to avoid touching our eyes frequently.

Conjunctivitis: Ayurvedic Treatment

 

Before opting for ayurvedic treatment we all need to should understand, one very important thing that eyes are very sensitive organ. So, Ayurvedic way of treating can be considered for the eye if it’s in initial of stage and stopping the disease from spreading further but if it is already into a severe state it’s better to immediately consult with an expert from any domain maybe allopathic or ayurvedic.

  1. Aloe vera has got a good soothing properties for the skin so the paste of aloe vera can be applied over closed eyelids It can be kept for 15 to 20 minutes and then should be gently wiped off with a clean cloth.
  2. fomentation can be done there in we can put wet cloth dipped in the solution of clean water luke warm with turmeric powder ,turmeric has anti inflammatory properties which will help reduce inflammation around the eyes. Warm compress can also help relieve the symptoms.
  3. Put ayurvedic eye drops twice a day.
  4. Increase the intake of natural fruits enriched with vitamin A.
  5. Practice pranayams specifically Anuloma Vilom.
